5 Minute Christmas Cuties

Things have been pretty busy this week, so I have not had a chance to sit down and craft since my workshop on Saturday. Tonight, I finally had about a half an hour to myself, so I whipped up these little cuties. They took less than 5 minutes each, and provided a great quick and crafty escape.

Have a "Wicked" Halloween Card

I put this card together tonight after seeing a similar witch linked on another blog. Once I figure out where that blog was, I will update this post with a link to it :) I used the Stampin' Up! dressed up framelets and coordinating pop-up card base for the background. The hardest part was drawing the lips, and I am not 100% happy with the way they came out. Overall, I still think its a pretty cute card though!

Ten Minute Treats: Happy Halloween!

Tonight, I put together two super cute card templates you can use to create two Halloween cards in under ten minutes. I made these cards with only supplies I had on hand, but Stampin' Up! carries some products that would make the finished product look even better.

Here is the recommended Stampin' Up! supply list for this project (feel free to make substitutions though!):

I also used a heat gun, clear embossing powder and the Stampin' Up Envelope Punch Board. As with everything else, these tools are completely optional and you can make your own substitutions.

First, I cut the Basic Black Cardstock to 6" x 3". I made two of these strips so I would have enough for two cards.  Then I folded them in half and scored the fold line.

Next, I cut a sheet of patterned paper to 3"x3" to be the mat on the front of the card. Any of the sheets from the Witches' Brew Designer Paper pack would look great as the mat, but I didn't have any on hand so I substituted some black paper with glittery dots. Cut two of these so you have one for each card.

You will also want to cut two squares of the Very Vanilla Cardstock to serve as the inside mat. I chose to cut mine slightly smaller than the 3"x3" card surface so it would appear framed by the black background.

This is the effect it created:

Then, I used black ink to stamp my images onto a different patterned paper. I used the clear embossing powder and heat gun, to emboss the images so they would stand out more.

Stamped and covered in embossing powder:

Cooked to perfection with the heat gun:

I then cut out my images by using a punch similar to the 2-3/8 Inch Scallop Punch.
I used an image from the Eat, Drink and Be Scary retired stamp set, but pretty much any image from the Halloween Hello Stamp Set would look awesome as the focal point for these cards. If you use the candelabra stamp from that set, you can accent it with small gems as the flames for a very fun effect.

I chose to use a snippet of ribbon and a gem to spiff up my witches' hat:

For my other card, I ran the ribbon across my mat but left my image plain. I wanted to keep these cards clean and simple, and it create a nice, clean line on the card. I did stamp a couple of bats on the inside of the card, but you could use the halloween candy, candy corn or even one of the sentiment stamps from the Halloween Hello set instead.

Finally, I used the Stampin' Up Envelope Punch Board to create coordinating envelopes. I created these as an extra and didn't count it in the 10 minutes because I am still getting familiar with the new punch board. However, I have to say that the more I use it the more I love it!
